on this one. I can see it is certainly an interesting looking Chiffchaff. The suggested plumage tones and the leg colour grab attention. I am not sure I can take it much further though. I am also reticent when it comes to assessing photos. So often for birds I have not seen the photo can give mis-direction Smile. Hope you understand

IN the UK we have had several individuals now which have been trapped but not heard sing/ calling and have suggested ibiricus. we are still trying to figure out the limits of identification. At the moment call is the very best feature followed by song. The Spanish have recently brought out an excellent book

which includes a chapter detailing more robust data on in hand/ biometric identification of ibiricus. I haven’t had chance to take it all in yet but that would be well worth getting and comparing with the visible wing details on this bird – such as there is.
